UPND Demand Police Action After Member’s House Bombed

UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka has demanded that the police complete their investigations into the petrol bombing of a house belonging to party trustee Peter Kalyata by suspected PF cadres. 

Mr Kalyata, who is the UPND trustee for Muchinga ward 24, has sustained burns to his back and hands after his home in Matero was attacked on Tuesday night. 

He explained how he managed to escape through the window, rescuing his wife, children and granddaughters from the blaze. He said it was a miracle no one was hurt. 

Secretary General Katuka said he never thought he would see the day when a Zambian who be petrol bombed for expressing a political opinion. He urged the police to bring the culprits to justice. 

Mr Kalyata and his wife have since been discharged form Matero level one hospital, despite both sustaining serious burns.

Lusaka Provincial Chairlady Rosa Zulu has questioned how doctors could dismiss two patients in such obviously bad shape.
