PF ‘Waging War Against Zambians’
The United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused the Patriotic Front government of ‘waging war’ against the people of Zambia, after footage emerged of PF thugs attacking a UPND branded vehicle in Kasama.
The attack took place in full view of police officers, who did nothing to stop it. Footage of the incident can be seen here.
Shortly afterwards, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema voiced his condemnation of the attack, writing on Facebook: “What is happening in our country should trouble the conscience of very right thinking citizen”.
Now a concerned citizen, and member of the UPND, Anthony Bwalya, has accused the government of running an “openly criminal regime” based on corruption, thuggery and terror.
In an op-ed for the Lusaka Times, Mr Bwalya accused President Lungu of being merely a ‘proxy president’, controlled by the criminal elements of his party and government.
Mr Bwalya lamented how schools and homes have been attacked in violent acts of domestic terrorism on President Lungu’s watch. Yet the PF government has done little to act on the links to terrorism financing clearly highlighted by the FIC’s 2018 report.
“This is the same proxy resident who has handed $500m worth of unprocessed gold deposits to foreign owned entities with known links to terrorism, with these companies being headed by individuals with links to internationally sanctioned individuals by the US, UK, EU and UN,” he added.
Mr Bwalya warned Zambians that they should brace for the ‘very worst’ ahead of next year’s elections and that citizens should “stand together and defend our country”.
