Ex-President Lungu Admits Mistakes Were Made in Office
Former President Edgar Lungu has apologized to the people of Zambia for letting them down during his ten years in office.
Lungu was speaking at the annual memorial service, held at Embassy Park, to commemorate the life and service of the fifth president of Zambia, who passed away on 28th October 2014.
As well as delivering a touching speech in honour of the late President Sata, Lungu took the opportunity to acknowledge mistakes he made during his premiership and ask for forgiveness.
“Yes we have made mistakes in our line of duty, we have at times come short of our people’s expectations and yes we have at all times broken their trust and for that we render our sincere apologies,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lungu described the late Michael Sata as a patriotic defender of Zambian values, and a role model for he and other members of the Patriotic Front to aspire towards as they seek to repent for a disappointing tenure in State House.
Addressing his peers within the PF, he said, “colleagues there is no better way to honour the memory of this gallant son of the soul than pursuing and promoting the very values and principles that shaped his life”.
