Innocent Kalimanshi Charged With Drug Trafficking

A magistrate in Lusaka has charged Patriotic Front ‘commander’ Innocent Kalimanshi, alongside five others, with drug trafficking and the unlawful use of property.

Kalimanshi is accused of trafficking 2g of cannabis using an unregistered Nissan Fairlady. The case is multifaceted, with 27 individuals appearing before Magistrate Sanford Ngobola, of whom 22 were acquitted for possessing offensive weapons. 

The remaining five have all been charged with trafficking drugs and using the unregistered vehicle.  

Kalimanshi is a well-known PF firebrand who gained notoriety during the recent 2021 General Elections. At a party gathering in May to celebrate the return of Chishimba Kambwili to the PF, Kalimanshi led supporters into the PF Secretariat Building and smashed up the venue. His men also injured two journalists: Francis Maingaila and Nancy Malwele.
