Heavily Armed Police Raid HH’s In-Laws

On Friday, a battalion of heavily-armed police raided a home in Shibuyunji District belonging to the family of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s wife.

According to Mr Hichilema, the police falsely accused his wife’s cousins of owning “unspecified weapons”. The officers dug holes in nearby maize fields and turned the house upside down in their search, but to no avail.

The opposition leader described the behaviour as “dictatorial” and characterised it as a “waste of government resources” when cancer patients in Zambia’s hospitals are being made to wait up to three months for radiotherapy.

He later suggested that President Lungu’s PF were likely having “sleepless nights” over upcoming elections in August and wanted to disrupt their main competition. However he warned “they must not push their luck too far”.

In a post on Facebook, HH pledged that if his party is elected to form a government in August, it will focus on creating jobs, building business opportunities and providing quality healthcare for citizens, rather than victimising law-abiding Zambians.

He urged Zambians not to lost hope but to use their votes to enact real change in the country.

“The only weapon you have, is your NRC and voter’s card. Epela. Finish. Kwamana. Kufelile. Kwasila. Come 12th August, the villains will be vanquished,” he wrote.
