Vice President Wina Filmed Dishing Out Cash In Solwezi

Vice President Inonge Wina has been strongly criticised after video footage emerged of her handing out cash to a frantic crowd in Solwezi, North-western Province.

In the video, police officers can be seen struggling to hold back the crowd as the vice president hands banknotes to several potential voters.

Mrs Wina has yet to comment on the video, which is being widely circulated on social media, or explain where the money came from.

It comes after President Lungu was criticised last month for attempting to bribe voters with PF-branded bicycles. The bikes were donated to village headmen in Monze district, prompting outrage from Alliance for Community Action Executive Director Laura Miti, who asked “Where he is getting that money he is not telling? Is it from his newly deep pocket?”

The Patriots for Economic Progress party later accused the PF government of stealing ‘billions’ from the national treasury in order to make tactical donations to persuade voters.

The opposition party alleged that 52 fuel tankers, worth over K200 million, had been gifted to youth groups in March as a form of political bribery.
