Come Rain, Come Sunshine, There Will Be Change On August 12 – HH

United Party for National Development (UPND) Alliance President Hakainde Hichilema has said that nothing will stop the August 12th general elections from going ahead.

Following threats from the government to postpone the general elections, in a supposed attempt to remain in power for longer, Mr Hichilema remained positive that the elections will go ahead on 12th August, allowing the Alliance to usher in much needed change into the country.

Speaking after meeting with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), Mr Hichilema said that nothing will stop change from occurring after the August 12th elections.

“Come rain, come sunshine, there will be a change of government on 12th August,” he said.

Following recent violence which the UPND has been subject to, including the attempted assassination of Mr Hichilema on his way to church, he assured the Zambian people that the Alliance would ensure a smooth transition of power in August.

“The group here are civilised to allow for a peaceful transition of power. I want to assure you and guide you, from now onwards, we will not obey unlawful instructions.”

Mr Hichilema also spoke on the cancellation of two UPND Alliance Road Shows which could not go ahead as a result of Police refusal.

“The intention of the PF is to stop us from campaigning and from reaching out to the people,” he commented.
