PF Rally Photos Circulate As Police Block UPND
Photos are circulating on social media that claim to show Chief Government Spokesperson Hon Dora Siliya holding rallies as she campaigns ahead of the upcoming 12 August 2021 polls.
Meanwhile, the UPND continues to face blockages to its schedule, despite having cancelled its planned rallies after President Lungu directed that they would not be permitted as a result of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Yesterday UPND Alliance leader and presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema and his team reported being blocked as the travelled to lay a party member to rest as Kansenshi cemetery in Ndola.
“We have not committed any crime but seemingly Police officers under instructions earlier blocked us from going to put to rest our member Mr Joshua Mutisa at Kansenshi cemetery here in Ndola, Copperbelt,” HH wrote on social media.
“We understand that the Police are working under very difficult circumstances but our message to them is that do not accept to kill us or any citizen because we are all working to better lives,” he continued.
HH said that under a UPND government Police officers would be shown proper respect and better conditions of service. He appealed to voters more broadly by saying there are signs that change is coming, and that people are ready to reject unemployment, lack of business opportunities, no education and no medicine.
Meanwhile, the NDC’s Joseph Akafumba has called President Lungu a super-spreader, arguing he “is a super spreader of COVID-19 because he has never followed the guidelines during his many commissioning of projects especially in Lusaka”.
Akafumba described the President’s rally ban as fake because the head of state has various public programmes lined up where he will interact with many people.
