Lungu Begins Life Outside State House
Former President Edgar Lungu has left State House and reportedly moved to the upmarket suburb of Ibex in Lusaka to start his life away from Presidency.
Mr Lungu moved out of State House on Tuesday afternoon shortly after Hakainde Hichilema was sworn into power as the seventh President of Zambia.
Previously, Mr Lungu stated that he did not wish for the government to build him a retirement home after leaving office. Lungu stated that he had a number of houses which he could occupy instead.
Speaking on Twitter on Wednesday, Mr Lungu stated that he would miss State House which had been his home for the last 7 years.
“I never took for granted that I would not take my stroll in these grounds one day; and yesterday, I did. But I did it with a sense of honour that I did my part, just like the 5 presidents before me,” Mr Lungu Tweeted.
“My prayer is that the next residents will also create their wonderful memories,” he finished.
