ACC Detains Bowman Lusambo

The Anti-Corruption Commission has detained Kabushi MP Bowman Lusambo following allegations that he possesses properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Mr Lusambo is being held at Ridgeway police station without charge after he was summoned for questioning yesterday. His lawyer, Makebi Zulu, said the questions would be continuing today.

According to reports by News Diggers, Mr Lusambo allegedly owns 49 houses in Lusaka, with further properties in Kabwe, Kitwe and Ndola. Last week, ACC officers searched one of his homes in Chamba Valley though it is unclear what they were looking for.

Speaking to journalists while handcuffed, Mr Lusambo said his summoning by the ACC amounted to government persecution.

“The IMF (International Monetary Fund) is still there and we shall continue suffering, all this you are seeing is persecution by President Hakainde Hichilema,” he said as officers took him into custody.
