UPND Has Achieved More In Five Months Than PF Ever Did – HH
President Hakainde Hichilema has said that his United Party for National Development (UPND) has done more in government over the last five months than the previous Patriotic Front (PF) administration ever managed in the ten years they held office.
Speaking on a tour of markets in Lusaka’s Kamulanga area, the President highlighted some of his government’s early victories, including paying retirees who had not been compensated for 20 years and implementing the free education policy that he had promised on the campaign trail.
He was joined on his visit by the UPND’s candidate for the upcoming Kabwata by-election, Andrew Tanyengwa. The pair encouraged voters that they met to back Mr Tayengwa in Thursday’s election.
Earlier, during a service at the United Church of Zambia Liseli Congregation in Kamulanga, HH said he was committed to working with the church to help unite the country and establish a corruption-free Zambia.
He added that his administration would work towards fostering peace in Zambia and rooting out acts of violence. He urged church leaders to join his mission of bringing development to the country, in particular through free education for all.
Revd. Hellen Chisanga then led her congregation in a prayer for President Hichilema to lead the country according to God’s will. She said Zambians should be thankful to God for allowing a peaceful election and transition of power last year.
