COP27: HH Calls For “Strong And Enduring International Partnerships”
During his speech yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema called for countries to work together to create a “strong and enduring international partnership” to ensure the delivery of key climate change targets.
In the speech, he highlighted the importance of African countries being included in the climate change rhetoric outlining the significance of the event taking place in Egypt.
He said that African countries, alongside other developing nations, are some of the most affected by climate change and should be supported in their efforts to mitigate it.
Further, he outlined that Zambia will continue to support policies to cut down on emissions by following green growth strategies.
He said that there was no longer an option for countries to decide not to support policies.
The president further reiterated the importance of green investments especially a common framework for carbon trading, which he called for a universal template to ensure efficient engagement.
