DRC And Zambia Take Steps Towards Vehicle Battery Value Chain

Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have made another positive step on the battery value chain the countries had previously agreed on.

The deal was announced in April this year with the two countries signing a historical cooperation agreement.

The agreement outlined that they would build a value chain for electric batteries alongside a clean energy framework.

The strategy is set to create hundreds of jobs and project both countries into sustained economic growth.

President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Zambia and DRC which would outline his support for the production of the batteries.

Anthony Bwalya, the presidential spokesperson explained that the MoU acts as a major stepping stone in actualising the countries’ plans.

He also outlined that the project is part of President Hichilema’s commitment to conservation and climate adaptation.
