Magistrate Explains To Lusambo He Allegedly concealed 3 Properties Worth Over K4.4 Million
KABUSHI PF member of parliament Bowman Lusambo has appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for possession of three properties reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime worth US$248,000 (K4,464,000).
And Lusambo is also accused of corruptly acquiring two properties at K880,000 and K150,000 respectively.
Lusambo, 45 a businessman and politician, who is former Lusaka Province minister, appeared before magistrate Faides Hamaundu for explanation of the charges as the State awaits a consent to prosecute the matter from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Lusambo told the court that he understood the charges he is facing.
In the first count, it is alleged that Lusambo
between May 1, 2015 and December 31, 2021 in Ndola, Copperbelt unlawfully acquired property number L/39376/M in the name of Frontier Management Services Limited, which property was later transferred to Jignesh Prafulchandra Soni at a consideration of K880,000 his own benefits.
Count two alleges that Lusambo between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018 in Masaiti unlawfully acquired certificate of title in respect of stand number MASILN-1003024/18 in his name, thereby obtaining an exemption from paying the sum of K250,000 plot premium land which property was later conveyed to Mbachi Nkwazi at a consideration of K150,000, an act prejudicial to the rights and interest of Masaiti Council.
In the third count, it is alleged that Lusambo on September 1, 2021 and October 31, 2021, in Chongwe, jointly and whilst acting together with another person concealed property number HN 249 situated in Silverest Gardens valued at US$60,000 in the name of Nancy Natasha Manase, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
In count four, it is alleged that Lusambo between September 1, 2021 and October 31, 2021 in Chongwe, jointly and whilst acting together with another person concealed property number HN282 situated at Silverest Gardens valued at US$128,000 in the names of Nancy Natasha Manase, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
In the last count, allegations are that Lusambo between September 1, 2021 and October 31, 2021 in Chongwe, jointly and whilst acting together with another person concealed property number HN249 situated at Silverest Gardens valued at US$60,000 in the names of Nancy Natasha Manase, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
After explanation of the charges to the accused, magistrate Hamaundu adjourned the case to March 9 for mention and possible plea if consent will be granted.
