ACC Arrests a ZNS Colonel For Alleged Corrupt Practices Involving Mukula Logs

A COLONEL in the Zambia National Service (ZNS) has been arrested for alleged corrupt practices involving the exportation of Mukula logs.

In a media statement, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) spokesperson Queen Chibwe stated that Colonel Maliwa Muwanei 45, a director of operations, was arrested and charged with one count of Abuse of Authority of Office, in violation of Section 21 sub section 1 of the Anti-Corruption Act number 3 of 2012.

Mrs Chibwe stated that Col. Muwanei of ZNS Makeni in Lusaka allegedly abused the authority of office by arbitrarily resolving to regularise an attempted illegal export to China of twenty-three (23) containers laden with Mukula logs transported by Ackson Tembo of ACK General Suppliers between 1st June 2021 and 30th September 2021.

“This is an act which is prejudicial to the interest of the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

Colonel Maliwa Muwanei has since been released on Bond and will appear in court soon,” Mrs Chibwe said.
