President Hichilema Makes Appointments To ACC, Human Rights Commission
President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed state counsel Musa Mwenya as the new chair of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) among a number of other high-level anti-corruption appointments.
The president has also nominated Irene Lamba, Henry Mbushi and O’brien Kaaba as commissioners of the ACC board, subject to approval by parliament.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson Anthony Bwalya, President Hichilema also announced the appointment of Alliance for Community Action executive director Laura Miti as a commissioner of the Human Rights Commisison (HRC), alongside Council of Churches in Zambia general secretary Fr Emmanuel Chikoya. Tom Shamakamba and Christine Chama have also bene made commissioners.
Additionally, the president renewed the tenure of current HRC chair Mudford Mwandenga, to be assisted by a newly appointed deputy Pamela Sambo.
Mr Bwalya clarified that the president had not renewed the tenure for those commissioners whose tenures ended in December 2021. He added that all appointments were still subject to approval by the National Assembly.
