Ninety-five Zambian Nationals To Arrive From Ukraine
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, 95 Zambian nationals who were in Ukraine are anticipated to arrive in Lusaka.
At a press conference in Lusaka today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Stanley Kakubo blamed the delay on the closing of airspace above Ukraine, which caused airspace congestion in the Europe-controlled zone.
He stated that many flight schedules have been severely disrupted, causing the Zambian nationals' departure to be rescheduled for Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Mr Kakubo said that the Zambians are secure in Warsaw, Poland, in the care of the government, and are in good spirits, ready to be evacuated.
Mr Kakubo went on to say that two of the 14 students who were in Sumy are now in transit to Lviv after getting private transportation with other foreign nationals, and that employees from Zambia's missions in Moscow and Berlin are in daily communication with them as they make their way to Poland.
