Kambwili Arrested In Kasama For Hate Speech

Chishimba Kambwili was arrested yesterday and charged with expressing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race, tribe or place of origin.

The arrest follows accusations of Kambwili promoting tribalism in Zambia.

Prior to last year’s general election, the PF MP stated that the now President would never win any election due to his Tonga heritage.

His remarks have raised concerns throughout Zambia, with many Zambians taking to social media to discuss their discontent with the Minister.

Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale outlined that Mr Kambwili had broken Section 70 and Chapter 87 as read with Act number 2 of the 2021 Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes law.

ZNBC reported that Mr Kambwili will remain in police custody until his court appearance in Kasama.
