President Hichilema Arrives In Rwanda Ahead Of CHOGM

President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

President Hichilema arrived at Kigali International Airport alongside State Minister for Justice, Solina Nyirahabimana, and Zambia’s Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga.

His wife is also in attendance and set to join meetings on gender equality and ending violence against women.

The summit will aim to tackle challenges such as the climate crisis, food insecurity and poverty.

Leaders are also expected to discuss the deteriorating relations between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which saw Kenya announcing the deployment of the Eastern African Community’s regional force to help reduce the violence.

The members are also set to discuss the upcoming election in Kenya scheduled for August.

The summit will act as an opportunity to consolidate bilateral trade deals between Zambia and other member states.
