Former First Lady Fails To Show For Dec Interview

Esther Lungu, wife of ex-president Edgar Lungu, has failed to appear in front of the court following an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).

The investigation concerns 15 properties bought by the former first lady which are suspected to have been bought using funds from criminal activities.

Her lawyer stated that Mrs Lungu would not attend the interview because of the short notice.

The former first lady has demanded that the DEC remove themselves from the properties stating that their presence on her properties is trespassing.

According, to the stateswoman she acquired the properties in 2015 when her husband was the president but the DEC has stated that the properties do not have the correct registration with the Ministry of Lands.
