President Hichilema Calls For Respect Over High Court Ruling

Following the High Court Ruling about the Kabushi and Kwacha Parliamentary byelections, President Hakainde Hichilema has explained that it is normal and should not cause any concern.

Further, President Hichilema has asked to amend the Constitution to better cope with challenges arising from by-elections.

He described that concise laws on the subject would help save national resources.

The announcement occurred following the President’s five-day working visit to the Copperbelt.

He stated that the ruling is a testament to a new phase of law and order in Zambia owing to the New Dawn Government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.

He also called on UPND politicians to remain level-headed and those elections will be held in the two constituencies.

Additionally, he asked for the prosecution of individuals behind the allocation of plots at Kasompe Airstrip in Chingola.

He described that its demolition was regrettable but that construction on the land, which belongs to the Civil Aviation Authority, should not be permitted in the future.
