ZNS Relieves Financial Strain on Shoppers: Eagles Mealie Meal Selling Like Hot-Cakes

Leader of United Prosperous And Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ), Charles Chanda, congratulated the Zambian government on Saturday for its efforts to reduce the price of mealie. The price of mealie had previously been a source of concern for many Zambians.

The reduced price of Eagles mealie meal at ShopRite outlets across Lusaka came as a relief to many shoppers on Sunday, following the great supply of Eagles mealie meal by the Zambia National Service (ZNS).

“This is a very good initiative. Last month, when I came to buy mealie meal and saw the price, I felt bad,” said Joel Mulenga, a resident of Lusaka.

The falling price of mealie meal instigated by the Zambia National Service has significantly reduced financial strain on Lusaka’s residents.

Many from villages and towns outside of Lusaka are now calling for the spread of this initiative to other towns around Zambia.

Emmanuel Chingwere from Mumbwa, outside of Lusaka, praised the government for its efforts, whilst saying the people of Mumbwa also hoped that this could be done in other towns as well.

Based on success in Lusaka, people expect the government to respond quickly elsewhere. The recent success in Lusaka bodes well.
