US Education Secretary Praises Zambian Education Efforts

Miguel Cardona, the Secretary of Education for the United States, has commended Zambia for its efforts in advancing the education sector.

According to Dr. Cardona, education is a critical factor in promoting and enhancing democratic values within a nation. He emphasizes that any initiatives aimed at improving the education sector are crucial to the promotion of democracy in countries. 

Dr. Cardona applauds the Zambian government for its decision to provide free education from the first to the twelfth grade, stating that it is a significant step towards promoting democratic values in the country.

Speaking to ZANIS during the Summit for Democracy in Lusaka, Dr. Cardona asserted that democracy can only be achieved when people are allowed to engage in progressive discussions.

Dr. Cardona underscores the importance of democratic governments investing in the education sector and providing the basic education standards necessary for citizens to aspire towards higher education.

In addition, Dr. Cardona expresses his gratitude to the Zambian youth for actively participating in the promotion of democracy, emphasizing that it is a crucial factor in the country's development.
