President Hichilema Tours Mandevu as Part of Celebrations of UPND in Power for 2 years.
Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema visited Mandevu Constituency as part of a week of UPND activism organised in celebration of 2nd anniversary of the party getting into office. Whilst in the Constituency, Hichilema engaged with the community’s apprehensions, toured Chipata Level 1 Hospital, and commissioned a water borehole for the region.
At Chipata Level 1 Hospital, Hichilema tasked himself to become acquainted with the initiatives financed by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) within the health sector.
Hichilema interacted with medical staff, and gained insights into the hospital’s operations, emphasising the significant impact that CDF-funded projects have had on Zambia’s healthcare infrastructure and technology.
Notably, Hichilema and his team participated in a hospital cleaning exercise, with the president donning gloves and a mop to highlight the importance of cleanliness and a hygienic environment in a healthcare facility.
The President expressed satisfaction with the recent employment of additional healthcare workers in the previous year, expressing on a Facebook post that the new staff have “positively impacted the hospital's … provision of quality healthcare”.
Additionally, President Hichilema commissioned a water borehole, which will aid the residents of Mpulungu and Kabanana Wards in Mandevu Constituency. Crucially, these locations have lacked clean and safe drinking water for a long time.
President Hichilema shared his commitment to extend this drilling initiative to all constituencies in Lusaka, acknowledging the fundamental importance of accessible water for every citizen.
On Facebook, Hichilema praised the community for expressing their concerns “openly and freely” and assured that his government “have heard you and are committed to resolving the issue of mealie meal by ensuring farmers are incentivized to grow more maize” Adding that “Our election was based on a promise of change, and we will pursue this mandate relentlessly.”
Hichilema conveyed his gratitude to the people of Mandevu for hosting his team and for their unwavering belief in his leadership and support.
