IBA offices declared to be a crime scene following the murder of its Director General
Speaking at the mass media complex in Lusaka, the Ministry of Information and Media permanent secretary, Theo Kawana announced that the offices of the Independent broadcasting Authority have been cordoned off and are being treated as a crime scene.
Police are stationed around the offices to protect the integrity and sensitivity of the investigation.
He said, “the safety and cooperation of IBA employees are paramount during this period…Staff members should be prepared to assist investigative officers and may need to access their offices as required by the investigation.”
Whilst the investigation is ongoing, and the nation awaits more detail surrounding the murder, Mr. Kawana urged the public to avoid spreading false information which will only negatively impact the progression of the police’s efforts.
The investigations at the IBA offices come after the police arrested a company accountant on 29 July, named Francis Chipyoka.
Also on 19 July, the Home Affairs Minister, Jack Mwiimbu assured the public that a comprehensive clean up will take place in the police service to root out any unsuitable officers after three were implicated in the murder investigation.
