Over K5m CDF allocated in Senanga
The Senanga Town Council has paid out over five million kwacha of empowerment loans and grants to 174 women and youth beneficiaries under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The Constituency Development Fund is a public policy in Zambia that provides financial resources for community-driven development projects.
The CDF allocation in Zambia has significantly increased in recent years, promising more financial resources for community-driven development projects nationwide. The 2024 budget further increased CDF spending to K30.8 million per constituency.
One of the recipients said, “We want to venture into climate resilience and livestock projects to fight hunger and drought.”
The Local Authority has also procured four pieces of earth-moving equipment for K8 million using the 2023 CDF. The equipment will be used to maintain township roads.
Senanga District Commissioner Zita Sipalo says the procurement of earth-moving equipment is meant to open up roads and spur economic growth in the district.
Area Member of Parliament Walusa Mulaliki encouraged loan and grant beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purpose so as to see the “expected benefit” of the money.
At the same event, eight completed health and education infrastructure projects, funded by the 2022 CDF at a cost of K3m, were handed over to the community.
