HH Attends Energy Summit in Tanzania

President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Tanzania for an official visit to the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit. The visit comes at the invitation of Tanzanian President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The high-profile summit in Dar es Salaam aims to accelerate Africa's progress toward universal access to modern energy by 2030. It brings together African heads of state, senior policymakers, and development partners under the ambitious Mission 300 initiative, which seeks to connect 300 million people to electricity within the next five years.

In a statement posted to his Facebook, the President reflected, “The continent is faced with an energy deficit, and we are here to combine efforts in finding solutions to these challenges caused by climate change and other factors.”

“We are on the road to solving our energy challenges, and soon we will get there,” he continued.

The first of President Hichilema’s bilateral meetings at the event was with Robert Beugre Mambe, Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast. Their conversation centred around intra-Africa trade.

The event is a collaborative effort between the Tanzanian government, the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, and other partners.
