HH Fires Kamoko

Joel Kamoko's tenure as Permanent Secretary in Charge of Technical Services within the Ministry of Education has been abruptly terminated following a controversial televised appearance. During the program, Kamoko was visibly disoriented and struggled to articulate his points while discussing the new curriculum. This led to widespread speculation about his sobriety.

President Hichilema, responding swiftly to the public outcry, took decisive action. Citing the critical need for public officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and conduct, especially when representing the government in public forums, the President terminated Kamoko's appointment with immediate effect.

In an official statement released by State House, President Hichilema expressed his appreciation for Kamoko's service during his time in office and extended his best wishes for future endeavors. However, the President also issued a stern reminder to all public servants, emphasizing the importance of carrying out their duties with diligence, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the public trust. He stressed that any behavior that could potentially tarnish the image of the government or erode public confidence would not be tolerated.

The dismissal of Joel Kamoko for his unprofessional televised appearance and the President's subsequent emphasis on upholding public trust contrasts sharply with the approach of the previous regime, where such behavior was often overlooked or met with minimal consequences. This stark contrast underscores the administration's commitment to accountability, and good governance.

As the nation moves forward, it is clear that President Hichilema's decisive action has set a new precedent for public officials. The message is clear: professionalism, integrity, and accountability are non-negotiable for those who serve the public.
