Copper Queens Return Home After Quarantine
The remaining team members of the Zambian women’s team have returned from Chile after testing negative for coronavirus.
The Copper Queens travelled to Santiago last month for international friendlies ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which have been scheduled for next year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Zambian team beat their hosts 2-1 in the first game but the second match was cancelled after four members of the Zambian team tested positive for COVID-19.
The Zambian delegation was then quarantined for 14 days at Mayor Torres hotel.
24 members of the team were welcomed home from Chile earlier this month. However, six members of the team remained in Santiago after having tested positive despite being in isolation for 14 days.
“We have been assured by the Chilean authorities who are also collaborating with the Zambian Mission in Brasilia are keen on letting the final batch leave after completing the recommended quarantine. Every decision that has been taken has prioritized the health of the players as health comes first,” Kamanga explained at the time.
