Futsal League Kicks Off

LIVINGSTONE Pirates and Chipata Boys will kick start the 2020/2021 Automotive Futsal League today at 18:30 hours at the Automotive Futsal Arena in Lusaka.

The 10 team league starts after the 2019/2020 league ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has put almost everything on hold.

With all public health guidelines put in place, the two teams will kick-start the season with the hope of topping the table and fighting for the K25,000 top prize.

With a K2,000 monthly pay for each team in the Super Division from the sponsors to help with their logistics, Chipata Boys manager Sagar Patel told The Mast that the team aimed to finish as high as possible.

“Okay, so this is our third season in the league, and in terms of where the league is, it has improved every year. The progress of the league is noticeable and the effort put in by the organisers to get the teams’ funding to participate and help out our players with logistics is loud,” he said. “Our aim is to win the main prize, but realistically speaking, we want to finish as high as possible.”

Patel says having a young team will help his side grow into a bigger team.

“We have a young team which we hope to keep together for a long time and build on it. We were called Colosol Young Boys and now we are Chipata Young Boys,” explained Patel. “The name Chipata is to gain some notification and financial support. Lastly, a big ups to the league and its effort to sponsor and give us a facility of international standard.”

Other Super League action will continue tomorrow with Kitwe Bullets taking on Monze George, while three times champions LSK Automotive will lock hones with Siavonga Beetles.

DS Isoka will battle it out with Kafue Saints while Kabwe KLine takes on CSS Petakue.
