Chipolopolo Prepare For CHAN Quarter-final
Chipolopolo have moved from Buea to Douala ready for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarter-finals.
The Zambian national team will meet Morocco on Sunday, after they finished their Group D fixtures with a 0-0 draw against Namibia on Wednesday.
Following the goal-less draw against Namibia, who had already been eliminated from the tournament, coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic reflected on the team’s performance:
“We need to critically look at ourselves why from 20 attempts, not even one could finish where it is supposed to finish. This is now something that we need to look at critically and we need correct all this before playing quarterfinal match.”
“It is not easy to play against a team that has no pressure but had the intention to be party spoilers in away. They have proudly played for their country and I give them credit to the coach and his team,” Micho stated.
Micho acknowledged that Morocco were seen as the favourites going into the quarter-final match against Zambia.
“Let them take the role of the favourite, we are who we are, we shall come with the same approach, giving our best,” he said.
Chipolopolo finished second in Group D, below the Guinean national team which also finished on five points but has a better foal difference. Morocco secured its place in the quarter-finals after finishing top of Group C.
