Chipolopolo Provisional Squad Named
Chipolopolo Coach Avram Grant has named a 26-member Provisional Squad for the upcoming back-to-back 2025 AFCON Qualifiers fixture against Chad.
Striker Fashion Sakala is notably missing from the list, and defender Frankie Musonda, who was sidelined during the last tournament due to injury, is returning to the squad.
Defender Peter Kalota from Red Arrows, NAPSA Stars’ David Bulaya, and striker Jimmy Mukeya have also been called up to the National team.
Speaking at the press conference where he unveiled the squad this morning, Chipolopolo Coach Avram Grant said all the players given a call-up deserve to be on the squad but warned that anyone who shows indiscipline will be left out.
“The target now is to win both games against Chad and qualify for the 2025 Morocco AFCON tournament,” continued the ex-Chelsea and West Ham manager.
He said the team will not underestimate their opponents despite being the better on paper.
The Chipolopolo head coach also explained that he was pleased with the balance of his team's mature and young players, providing experience and energy.
Zambia will host Chad in the first leg on October 11, 2024, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. The second leg is scheduled for October 15th, 2024.
