KCM Donates 1.3 Million Kwacha to National Netball Team

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has given the Zambian national netball team 1.3 million Kwacha for their Netball Africa Cup preparations.

The National Netball Team will start their defence of the continental championship in Namibia next week. Zambia are the reigning champions, having secured the cup in Botswana last year.

KCM's Director of Corporate Communications, Masuzyo Ndhlovu, highlighted the athletes' outstanding performances as the driving force behind KCM's sponsorship.

Ndhlovu, speaking at the ceremony where he handed over the cheque, said, “Netball, in particular, has a special place in our hearts as it embodies the values of teamwork, discipline and perseverance that we cherish at KCM.”

“We are proud to have supported netball Zambia in the past, and we are happy to recall the team’s impressive performance last year in Botswana. As you may recall, the team emerged victorious and was crowned African champions. We hope the team this year will repeat this success,” the KCM Director continued.

Netball Zambia President Martha Sichone thanked KCM for sponsoring the national team for a second consecutive Africa Cup. “It’s a huge plus for us as netball, and we can’t take it lightly; we are very thankful that KCM has come on board again to support the netball team; the two captains are going to defend the cup and bring it back to Zambia, the way they did last year,” added Sichone.

Zambia’s National Team Captain, Beauty Nakazwe, also promised that Zambia would defend the trophy; “We want to say thank you for your sponsorship. I can assure you we are going to deliver results, as we did last year. We are going to make our country proud.”
