Poverty Levels Still At 40% - Community Development Minister

Community Development Minister Kampamba Mulenga has warned that 40% of Zambians are still living in poverty and has called on the private sector to partner with her ministry to help reduce this figure.

Speaking in Lusaka on Tuesday, Ms Mulenga thanked Zamseed for a donation of 2.5 metric tonnes of seed - worth approximately K76,000 - to be distributed among 1,200 beneficiaries. The donation is aimed at empowering vulnerable communities to participate in agriculture.

The minister said there was a real need for a collaborative effort when it comes to tackling poverty and urged other companies to follow Zamseed’s example.

Zamseed marketing manager Zacks Musonda said his company appreciates its partnership with the ministry and will continue to foster a progressive relationship.
