Government Completes Eight Industrial Yards To Enhance SME Competitiveness
The government’s Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) says it has completed construction at eight industrial yards which are designed to enhance competitiveness for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the metal fabrication sector.
The yards are located in the districts of Kafue, Chipata, Mongu, Ndola, Kitwe, Solwezi, Mansa and Kasama. Three of the sites –Chipata, Kasama and Mongu – are already operational, according to the CEEC.
“The commission is proud to announce that all eight yards as projected have been fully completed in terms of construction with Mansa recently handed over the industrial yards to the commission by the construction company,” CEEC’s spokesperson Micheelo Mukata said.
The site at Mansa is modelled after a flagship facility in Lusaka, with 12 rooms, two auto bays, one bulk storage area and a restaurant.
SME owners and entrepreneurs are invited to apply for vacancies in the yards once they are operational.
