Hongyang Added to CAMCO Machinery Roster to Accelerate Industrialisation Agenda

Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Museba Tayali, has confirmed that the New Dawn Government will continue to accelerate its industrialisation policy, with particular focus in the Agriculture, Construction and Mining sectors.

Mr. Tayali said the UPND Government would persevere in its mission to establish a predictable environment for market investors so as to further drive Zambia’s economic recovery.

The Minister’s comments came at an event in Lusaka for the official launch of Hongyang trucks in Zambia. Hongyang trucks and machinery will now be available for hire to farmers via CAMCO. Mr. Tayali said, “We are delighted that the partnership that CAMCO has forged with Hongyang, a global industrial powerhouse, would assist Zambia in achieving its Industrialisation Agenda through the supply of a myriad of equipment and machinery in order to service the agriculture, energy, mining and construction sectors of our country.”

He added, “These sectors will play a pivotal role in the New Dawn Government’s development trajectory that seeks to reposition Zambia as an economic powerhouse in the regional marketplace.”

Mr. Tayali also highlighted the convenient timing of this deal with new Zambian mining objectives, namely “the New Dawn Government’s desire to increase copper output from 800,000 tonnes per annum to 3 million tonnes per annum”.

Hongyang’s expected importance in localised infrastructure is apparent, with spare parts providers playing a key role in maintaining the cogs of the agricultural economy in particular. Mr. Tayali confirmed that the Government “would like CAMCO to open up more branches in order to distribute more spare parts and reach out to all parts of the country […] with this supply of vehicles, CAMCO must establish a very good after sales system which services the Hongyang brand, the Forland brand and other products”.

The Government considers the official arrival of Hongyang-manufactured heavy-duty vehicles and machinery as an enormous boost to CAMCO’s roster of equipment for hire, and, in turn, to the agricultural economy. Mr. Tayali finished his statement by stressing that this latest deal reflects the Government’s sustained focus on growth across primary sectors of the Zambian economy, describing New Dawn’s commitment to improving Zambian life as “reliable, firm and cast in concrete”.
