UPND Announces Measures to Reduce Cost of Living in Zambia
UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has revealed that the New Dawn Government is finalising new measures to reduce the cost of living.
Mr. Mweetwa said that new efforts are under way to reduce production costs and increase Zambian economic activity. He cited the UPND’s directive of citizen participation in economic development as a government policy has successfully addressed Zambian poverty, and suggested new reforms would encourage similar models of growth.
The UPND Spokesperson also disclosed that the government is in the process of driving sustainability in development sectors such as energy, employment and fertiliser production. Mr. Mweetwa explained that these areas of growth would continue to be cultivated to improve the general economy and thereby aid human development.
Mr. Mweetwa added that the high cost of living was largely caused by the reckless borrowing and spending by the previous PF Government, but that the UPND had already addressed much of the PF’s problematic legacy and would continue to fix its mess.
The spokesperson revealed that the next target in the government’s plans for growth would be self-sustaining families, and that this would be facilitated through empowerment programs. He suggested that the Community Development Funds and similar citizen economic initiatives would be the drivers for new self-sustaining policies.
Mr. Mweetwa said that the New Dawn government would continue to prioritise a stronger economy as a primary policy to improve the quality of life for Zambians.
