Czech Republic Prioritises Zambian Investment

The Czech Republic says it will invest three million Euros per year in various sectors of Zambia from 2024 to 2030.

Czech Ambassador to Zambia Pavel Prochazka says Zambia has been prioritized in the European country's Development Cooperation. “We opened our embassy in 2017 when my government decided to put Zambia on the priority list of countries for our Development Cooperation, and development cooperation remains the cornerstone of our relations,” said Mr Prochazka at the Czech National Day in Lusaka.

The Czech Ambassador said the Czech Republic is investing in education, health, nutrition, and many other sectors to promote development.

Mr Prochazka said Zambia had been prioritized because it stood with the Czech people when the former Soviet Union occupied the country.

He highlighted the role of former President Kenneth Kaunda in speaking against Soviet aggression and explained that Zambia has remained consistent on international order.

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati thanked the Czech Republic for prioritising Zambia in Development Cooperation.

“We are grateful for having selected Zambia as a priority country for development cooperation within the context of Southern Africa, and we have continued on that path beyond 2024 to 2030,” said Mr Mutati, who added that the Czech Republic has been an all-weather friend to Zambia.
