“The country has sufficient stocks of petroleum products” says ERB

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) says the country has sufficient stocks of petroleum products.

The Board has been proactively addressing localised fuel shortages in various parts of the country, having identified cross-border logistical challenges as one of the primary reasons for the shortage.

The ERB has temporarily relaxed the movement restrictions of Petroleum Road Tank Vehicles to increase efficient fuel delivery and reduce shortages.

ERB Director General Elijah Sichone says the country currently has 35.8 million litres of diesel and 8.9 million litres of petrol, which is sufficient fuel for the next few days.

However, he noted that the board has intensified engagements with Oil Marketing Companies to accelerate the distribution of petroleum products across the country.

He said ERB officers visited 612 filling stations across the country, of which 423 had both petrol and diesel, 138 had either diesel or petrol, and 51 had no stock of both petroleum products.
