1,747 Jobs Created on Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway Project

As work on the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway project continues the Road Development Agency has confirmed that a total of 1,747 Zambians have been employed as part of the efforts so far.

The works, which are being undertaken by MOIC-LN Consortium Limited, commenced on 21st May 2024 following the Groundbreaking Ceremony officiated by President Hakainde Hichilema. The project will see the upgrade of 327 kilometres of the Lusaka-Ndola Road and the rehabilitation of 45 kilometres of the Masangano-Fisenge-Luanshya Road under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Financing Model.

Of the 1,747 people employed, 865 are General Workers, 233 Plant Operators, 38 Engineers, 33 Administrators and 578 are doing other construction related jobs.

Once the project is finished it is expected to significantly improve travel times and safety for journeys between Lusaka and the Copperbelt province, with the dual carriageway enabling a continuous flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi last week launched rehabilitation works for the Lusaka to Mongu road from Tateyoyo Gate to Katunda/Lukulu Junction stretching 87.3 km. The project is expected to take 24 months to complete.
