UNZA student evacuated to South Africa making remarkable improvement-Mwamba

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba says Everette Chongo, a University of Zambia student that was evacuated to South Africa for specialist medical treatment is making remarkable improvement.

Mr. Mwamba visited the student in the Hospital today and said she is making tremendous improvement after surgeries to her spine and legs.

And her Parents Geoffrey and Vivien Chongo have expressed gratitude to government particularly President Edgar Lungu and Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya for affording their daughter specialist medical treatment.

Specialist Doctors in South Africa on Sunday 14th October 2018 successfully conducted a surgery on Everette Chongo.

Everette, a second-year student in the school of education injured her spine and broke her legs when she jumped from her October Hostel room during the riots at the University of Zambia which led to the death of Vespers Shimuzhila, a fourth-year student also in the school of education.
