Suspected Zambian Strangled To Death In Tanzania

A man believed to be a Zambian national has been found dead at a compound near the Tunduma Mbeya road in Tanzania, close to the border with Zambia.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Engineer Joel Njase said he had received reports from Tanzanian law enforcement that the body of a Zambian national aged between 30 to 40 had been found dead after a suspected strangling.

The body was found by market traders on Tuesday morning as they were heading out to set up their stalls.

Tanzanian police found a red motorbike with registration number MC 359 AIB at the scene, which is believed to have belonged to the deceased.

The man has since been identified as Owen Nkupisha, according to a National Registration Card found on his person.

Police believe the victim was attacked and strangled in a separate location before being dumped at the compound.

β€œThe body of the deceased is still at Tunduma hospital mortuary in Tanzania awaiting postmortem examination and identification,” Engineer Njase said.

Police in both Zambia and Tanzania are continuing their investigations.
