Rufunsa District Has Highest Malaria Rate In Lusaka

The Rufunsa District Health office has revealed that the district is home to the highest rate of malaria in Lusaka and quite possibly the entire country.

The malaria prevalence rate in the district is very high, with over 400 cases per 1000 people.

Rufunsa District Planning Officer, Nicholas Sakala, has called the number of cases alarming and said there is a need for a multi-sectoral approach towards the fight against malaria in Rufunsa.

Rufunsa District Commissioner Judith Chama has said the district administration will shortly call for an urgent meeting with all stakeholders to map out a way forward in combatting the disease.

A check by the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) has revealed that some health facilities in the region have already run out of malaria medication.
