151,200 COVID-19 Vaccines To Be Delivered
The country is expected to receive over 150,000 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday, a government official announced yesterday.
The announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health in charge of Technical Services, Kennedy Malama during a press briefing. He said that the vaccines will be sent to provinces where demand is high.
“Our plan is that this consignment will be tailored to the provinces which are fast-moving because our new strategy is that we receive the vaccines, we ought to use them in the shortest period of time,” he said.
Although during the press briefing Dr Malama said that the government were encouraged by progress made so far, only on Tuesday did the Ministry of Health outline their worries over the lack of control of COVID-19 within the country.
Having targeted only 8.4 million individuals to vaccinate, out of a total population of almost 18 million, the government have put together a dangerous plan which will leave almost 10 million individuals unvaccinated.
