Remaining 12 Zambian Students In Ukraine Arrive Safely

Yesterday, the final 12 Zambian students fleeing Ukraine landed safely at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.

The 12 students were greeted by government authorities led by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) Coordinator Gabriel Pollen upon their arrival.

Speaking to the students at the airport following their homecoming, DMMU Coordinator Gabriel Pollen stated that the government is glad that all of the students have returned home safely.

“This also shows the comprehensive plan that government had put in place to evacuate the students, we had a chartered plane on the Polish side which brought the other students who arrived last week and we also had arrangements in place to evacuate the students to the Western side and put them on commercial flights to Zambia,” Mr Pollen said.

Mr Pollen stated that the government ensured that there were individuals ready to greet and accompany the students at the border, as well as a platform that offered instructions for them.
