President Praises Recruitment Of School Teachers

President Hakainde Hichilema described the efforts to recruit more teachers as clear evidence of the government’s commitment to improving education and delivering on its manifesto promises.

He stated that the deliberate policy implementation used by the New Dawn government was now bearing fruit. He said that the next step in delivering this policy promise is ensuring that 30,000 teachers are recruited.

Furthermore, the President described how the policy is already shaping education provision with more children enrolling in schools.

 


Government Outlines Its Commitment To Ensuring KCM And Mopani Are Working At Full Capacity

The government has reiterated their dedication to developing the mining sector outlining plans to bring Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mines back to full production.

The President disclosed the government's plans during a press conference on Monday. These include the use of the Public-Private Forum for Development to address production issues within the mines.

He stated, “In this Public-Private Dialogue Forum for development, we are putting KCM and Mopani as workstreams. We have already been putting in a lot of measures. That’s why you hear the noise on the liquidator at KCM because he was sitting in the way of resolving the KCM problems. The rest I won’t say much but KCM, Mopani, to unlock them. Mopani we are very close.”

 


Government Plans To Make Livestock A Priority In Efforts To Diversify The Economy 

The government has outlined plans to transform the livestock sector in line with its policies to diversify the economy.

Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary, Anna Songolo described the potential of the livestock industry as a major contributor to GDP.

The government has explained that they are keen to see the privatisation of the livestock industry to drive its growth and expansion. The expansion would also help facilitate employment opportunities for Zambians.
