President Hichilema Directs Agricultural Inputs to be Delivered to All Traditional Leaders
President Hakainde Hichilema has issued a Presidential Directive requiring the timely delivery of agricultural inputs for the 2024/2025 farming season to all traditional leaders across the country.
Speaking at a courtesy call made to Chief Choongo and joined by 64 other traditional leaders from nine provinces, President Hichilema expressed that traditional leaders should lead the way in agriculture production in their chiefdoms. “All Chiefs must lead the way in food production; they must see fertiliser given to them,” said the President.
“In the spirit of resilience, we call upon our heroic farmers to remain steadfast in their resolve. Plant your crops with determination and hope, for the government stands ready to support you in overcoming these hardships,” the president added on Facebook.
He expressed happiness that traditional leaders in the country are now more united and supportive of the government's development agenda.
The President’s courtesy call was made before he attended this year’s Samu Lya Moomba Traditional Ceremony, held at the historic site in Chief Choongo's Chiefdom in Monze.
Hichilema highlighted the special significance of this year’s ceremony as it coincides with the Diamond Jubilee of Zambian independence.
“Our nation's remarkable journey, spanning 60 years, has been characterized by peace, stability, and three peaceful transitions of power—an achievement that few African countries can claim,” the President wrote on Facebook.
