Government to Recruit 20,000 Community Health Volunteers

Health Minister Elijah Muchima says the government will start the recruitment of 20,000 Community Health Volunteers countrywide.

Dr Muchima says the recruitment will reduce the gap the country has of over 30,000 volunteers against the national total target of 45,000.

He has explained that the decision is aimed at enhancing health care and service delivery in the communities.

Dr said this in Lusaka when he officiated at the inaugural community health symposium.

Earlier, UNICEF Country Representative, Penelope Compbell emphasized the need for prudent utilisation of donor funds aimed at enhancing community health services.

And House of Chiefs Chairperson, Chief Nkambo assured the government of tradition leaders’ support in promoting quality health care in communities.
