Empowerment Training Launched for 200 Youths in Livingstone’s Namatama Ward
In a crucial step towards uplifting vulnerable groups, 200 individuals aged between sixteen and twenty from Namatama Ward in Livingstone have been selected to participate in empowerment training classes. The initiative, funded by non-governmental organisations New Hope Waves and Zoe Empower, demonstrates Zambia’s efforts to provide equal opportunities for the most vulnerable youths in society.
New Hope Waves Director Auldridge Chibbwalu told ZNBC Today that the initiative focuses on empowering and inspiring orphans and vulnerable people, allowing them to gain the necessary skills to improve their lives. He explained that the youths will be trained with vocational and business skills, preparing them for professional careers and a better future.
The programme reflects a collaborative effort between the church, community leadership and the local government. Namatama Ward Councilor Kelvin Maambo stated the crucial role these stakeholders play in the successful selection process. He notes that this community-driven approach demonstrates a collective commitment to addressing challenges faced by the youth, fostering grassroots talent development.
This training program not only addresses immediate skill gaps but also seeks to inspire long-term economic and social development, offering youths the tools to transform their lives and contribute to their communities.
