ZAF Plants Maize in Northern Province
The Zambian Air Force (ZAF) has planted extensive maize fields in Mbala, Northern Province, responding to President Hakainde Hichilema's call for increased food production.
ZAF Commander Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni reports that the initiative will contribute significantly to national food security.
The project aligns with President Hichilema's broader push for year-round maize cultivation. To combat climate challenges, the government is expanding irrigation systems near water bodies to sustain continuous food production.
"The President has been clear, and he gave marching orders that in times of peace as is now, we must all join hands in securing food for all, and this is what we are doing. We are optimistic that this maize will add to our country's food security," said Lt Gen Nyoni.
